Seoul: The passenger who unlocked an emergency door of an Asiana Airlines flight mid-air has offered a bizarre explanation for his crazy act,
Questioned by police after being taken into custody after the plane landed safely at Daegu airport in South Korea, the man said he was ‘uncomfortable’.
The man, in his thirties, told police that he had opened the door minutes before landing because he wanted to get off the plane quickly, Yonhap News Agency reported quoting Daegu Dongbu Police Station.
The passenger also said that he was stressed after losing his job recently.
The passenger, who opened the door when the plane was about 700 feet above ground, caused panic onboard.
Nine passengers had to be taken to hospital with breathing issues. All of them have been sent home, a fire department official said.
