Bhubaneswar: While accused assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Gopal Das has been nabbed and the Crime Branch has taken over the probe into the gun attack on Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das in Jharsuguda district’s Brajarajnagar around 12.30 pm on Sunday, several questions pertaining to the firing incident have remained unanswered.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
1) Was there any security threat to Naba Das? Were the police and intelligence officers aware of any perceived threat? If so, what measures had been taken?
2) Why did Gopal target Naba Das, not anyone else?
3) Was Gopal part of a bigger conspiracy against Naba Das?
4) Did the assailant nourish a personal enmity against the minister?
5) Was Gopal opening fire on Naba a result of uncontrolled rage or humiliation caused to him because of some action of the minister?
6) When Gopal was Naba’s Personal Security Officer, how was his conduct? Why was he removed? After his removal why was he posted in Naba Das’ area?
7) Was it something that he had been planning for some time?
8) Was it really a case of Gopal, who as his wife says had psychological issues, attempting to kill Naba in a mentally unsound state?
9) How could Gopal’s colleagues not perceive that he was a psychiatric patient and was capable of committing murder?
10) if Gopal was undergoing treatment for mental illness, why was he given a field posting and issued a firearm?
