Why Did Salman Khan-Powered ‘Sikandar’ Flop? Lead Actress Rashmika Has This Theory

Mumbai: ‘Sikandar’, which starred Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, was one of the highly-anticipated films last year, but it left fans disappointed and tanked at the box office.

Now, Rashmika has spoken out on why she thought the film flopped despite Salman’s star power.

Rashmika, who played Salman’s wife in the film, revealed during a recent interaction with Telugu journalist Premaa that the film’s script was changed after she signed the film.

“What happ

ened later was very different, but when I heard the script, it was indeed quite a different script. But that generally happens with films. When you listen to something, it is one story that you have listened to. But over the making of the film, things change according to the performances, according to the edits, according to the time of the release. That’s very common. So, that happened with Sikandar,” the actress said.

Backed by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, ‘Sikandar’ earned around Rs 110 crore in India, and turned out to be one of the biggest underperformers of the year.

Earlier, director AR Murugadoss had blamed structural issues in Hindi cinema and had also criticised the working style of big stars like Salman.

“It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up on set only by 8 PM,” he said.
