New Delhi: This time it is not Shashi Tharoor’s English that is making news. The Congress MP has actually issued an apology to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a day after slamming him for his speech in Bangladesh. On Saturday, he said that he doesn’t mind admitting when he is wrong.
On his two-day visit to Bangladesh, the PM had said that he did ‘satyagraha’ for the neighbouring country’s freedom.
“I must have been 20-22 years old when I and my colleagues did satyagraha for Bangladesh’s freedom,” PM Modi had said in Dhaka. He was addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of its founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Apparently lost to the end of the sentence, Shashi Tharoor slamming the speech on his official Twitter account saying, “International education: Our PM is giving Bangladesh a taste of Ind the ian “fake news”. The absurdity is that everyone knows who liberated Bangladesh.”
He was obviously referring to Modi omitting Indira Gandhi’s name.
