Mumbai: Varun Dhawan became the target of Samay Raina’s humour on ‘India’s Got Latent 2’, with the comedian taking a cheeky dig at the actor over an alleged spoiler from his upcoming film ‘Border 2’.
Varun appeared on the panel alongside comedians Sharon Verma and Nishant Verma and actor Medha Shankr.
Shortly after the episode dropped, several clips from the show surfaced online, giving viewers a glimpse of the conversations and jokes.
In one such clip, Samay pointed out that Alia Bhatt had appeared as a panelist on the show following the controversy that erupted last year.
“I have got such big stars after the FIR – Alia Bhatt and now Varun Dhawan, the show keeps going down,” Samay joked.
The unexpected jibe left Varun laughing, as he appeared to take the joke in good humour. He then revealed that he is a fan of the show but prefers watching it by himself.
However, Varun admitted that he had a feeling something would go wrong. Responding to him, Samay quipped, “Something has gone off, you are here.”
In another clip, Sharon took a playful dig at a statement Varun had made in the past. She said, “I am a big fan of you, Varun. My favourite performance is when you said, ‘Dilwale is like Inception.’”
Varun clarified that he was only trying to make a joke at the time, but it failed to land with the audience.
In another segment, a contestant asked the judges to pick a number between 1 and 5. Varun chose 1, simply saying, “I like 1.”
Samay then took a playful dig at Varun’s last release, ‘Border 2’, asking, “Why did you spoil Border 2 then?”
Varun defended the film, pointing out that it had performed well at the box office.
Samay later asked Varun to name his last film, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. He then cheekily twisted the title, saying, “Hai papa director toh actor toh hona hi hai.”
The latest episode had plenty of laughs as Varun became the subject of Samay and Sharon’s jokes, with several moments from the episode gaining attention on social media.
The first Netflix-exclusive episode, featuring Varun along with other special guests, is set to premiere on September 4.
In a statement to the press, Varun said, “Comedy is a genre I love performing and enjoy watching as well. Samay’s brand of comedy is so unpredictable that I wanted to experience it live. I had a great time, and hopefully everyone on Netflix enjoys this special as much as I did.”
