Mumbai: Bollywood veteran Suniel Shetty, while promoting the second season of his show ‘Hunter’, opened up about the common belief around star kids being more privileged than outsiders.
Suniel, who began his Bollywood career as an action hero, shared that star kids have to work harder today as people have become more judgemental now.
“The kids have to work harder to prove. Earlier, they took it for granted that I’d be a part of this. This is my hierarchy, and I’d be a part of this. Today, the kid knows to educate (themselves) and come prepared as an actor, with their acting, body, and everything else. You need to be absolutely prepared. Go to school and come; don’t believe you can walk into high school and college without finishing the basics,” Suneil was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
The actor, who had faced resistance for his unorthodox looks when he started off in the industry, felt that star kids find it tougher to prove themselves now, because of the brutal feedback from audience.
“Everybody is judgmental. Everybody believes they are a critic. And it’s not critical appreciation of cinema. It’s critical trashing of cinema that’s going on,” he said.
Suniel’s daughter Athiya made her Bollywood debut with ‘Hero’ in 2015.
She took a break from acting after her last film ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ failed at the box office. Married to Team India cricketer, the celebrity couple was blessed with a daughter earlier this year.
Suniel’s son Ahan, on the other hand, made his acting debut with ‘Tadap’ in 2021. He will next be seen in ‘Border 2’ and ‘Sanki’.
Suniel was recently seen in the Amazon MXPlayer show ‘Hunter Season 2′, which also features Jackie Shroff, Anusha Dandekar and Barkha Bisht in key roles.
