New Delhi: The Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ or nationwide shutdown on Wednesday, August 21 to protest against the Supreme Court’s ruling on SC/ST reservations.
The apex court on August 1, had allowed states to create sub-categories within the scheduled castes (SCs) and scheduled tribes (STs), saying, “Those who really need it should get priority in the reservation.”
To protest against the reversal of the court order, the Samiti has called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on Wednesday.
Senior civil and police officials held a meeting to overview the preparation for the Bandh to avoid an untoward incident. All divisional commissioners, district magistrates and senior police officers attended the meeting through video conferencing and were directed to be prepared for the ‘bandh’, according to News18.
