Aly Goni had also supported Alia amid the trolling. Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a strong message defending her.

“It’s sad when our own people try to pull down someone who has worked so hard to put India on the global stage. Alia Bhatt has reached places many only dream of, representing our country at Cannes with grace and pride. Instead of mocking and trolling, we should celebrate and support those who make India shine internationally. We rise higher when we uplift our own, not when we try to demean them,” he wrote.

Alia attended the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for the second consecutive year, having made her debut at the event in 2025.

The actor impressed fashion enthusiasts with a series of striking appearances, from a peach gown at the opening ceremony to an elegant ivory silk saree-gown at the Bharat Pavilion inauguration, before captivating fans in a Cinderella-inspired blue gown during the screening of La Vie d’Une Femme.

Her fashion choices at Cannes drew appreciation from several celebrities, including Karan Johar, Priyanka Chopra, Neetu Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala.

Alia is awaiting the release of her upcoming spy-action entertainer ‘Alpha’. Helmed by Shiv Rawail, the film is the seventh instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, following titles like ‘Tiger’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘War’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Tiger 3’ and ‘War 2’.
