Nayagarh: A widow was allegedly raped by a man at Ranpur area in Nayagarh district on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred when the woman was sleeping inside her house. Finding her alone, the accused barged into her house and forced himself on the victim after locking the main door and then raped her. He also threatened the victim against revealing it to anyone.
The woman thereafter raised an alarm following which her neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued her.
Basing on the complaint lodged by the woman regarding the crime, police swung into action and managed to arrest the accused.
A similar incident was reported from the same Ranpur area of the district on Monday when a minor girl was allegedly raped by one Kathia Nayak of Taria village here. The incident happened when the child had gone to answer nature’s call to a cashew orchard near her house.
However, the accused went absconding after committing the crime.
