Wife Of SOG Constable Held For Duping Couple In Bhubaneswar Of Rs 8.75L By Posing As Cop

Bhubaneswar: Wife of a constable from Odisha’s elite Special Operations Group (SOG) has been arrested for allegedly duping a couple of over Rs 8 lakh in Bhubaneswar.

The accused, identified as Sanjukta Bhuiyan, allegedly committed the fraud by posing as a senior police officer with her husband’s uniform.

According to sources, she was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on the basis of a complaint filed by Bishnu Prasad Muduli and his wife Rashmita Muduli of Chandaka, whom the former had befriended on Facebook by identifying herself as a cop. She can also be seen in a police uniform in the profile picture on the social media platform.

Sanjukta gained their trust and later sought help from them for her treatment. Bishnu gave her money in multiple instalments, totalling Rs 8.75 lakh. When he sought his money back, she allegedly threatened him by sending photos of people with injury marks, claiming that those who asked her for repayment met with this fate.

Bishnu lodged a complaint with the Cyber police after realising that he has been defrauded. Following which, the woman was arrested on Friday, the sources added.
