Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force of Odisha police has arrested one wildlife criminal and recovered three leopard hides during a raid on Rayagada-Koraput NH-326 near Siriguda Swargadham Chhak of Rayagada town.
The accused has been identified as Dambrudhar Majhi of Naktiguda under Hundibora police limits in the district.
Majhi failed to produce any authority in support of the hides when he was apprehended on Wednesday. While he will be forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Rayagada, the hides will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun, for biological examination, a police release said.
A case has been registered under Section 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act of 1972 and further investigation is on.
