Bhubaneswar: Will Odia cinema get its revamp and audience view Odia movies in theatre again? There are several questions arising in the minds of cinephiles.
‘Drustikona’, a new-age movie by Akshay Parija Productions aims to change he way Odia cinema is viewed.
A special screening of ‘Drustikona’ was held at Sandy’s Tower for cine lovers, critics and journalists. While critics have praised the film and rated it 5 star, producers and directors are expecting that the movie will bring a revolutionary change in Odia cinema.
‘Drustikona’ is based on atrocities committed on women throughout history. A woman gets gang raped by men who are under influence of liquor and hard drugs. To erase evidence, the victim and her fiancée are brutally murdered. When the matter reaches court, the character assassination of the victim starts. It is left to the wits and determination of a female police officer and an upright public prosecutor to bring justice to the family of the bereaved.
Directed by Susant Mani, the film’s cast includes debutant Shubhashree Nayak (Leeja Naik), Elina Samantaray as Crime Branch officer, Ankit Mohanty, Hara Rath as advocate, Hara Prasad Das as judge and Choudhury Bikash Das.
Drustikona is set for May 27 release all over Odisha, informed PR Coordinator Pranay Jethi.
