Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that BJP, if voted to power in West Bengal, will probe alleged corruption in disbursal of Cyclone Amphan relief funds.
“The central government had sent relief funds after Amphan cyclone, but the money was siphoned off by TMC leaders. If voted to power, we will probe this corruption. We will form a task force for saving lives from cyclones and environmental disasters,” Shah said during his latest visit to poll-bound West Bengal.
The Union minister, addressing a rally at Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district after flagging off the final leg of the party’s five-phase ‘Parivartan Yatra’, reiterated that said the BJP wants to make the state ‘Sonar Bangla’ (golden Bengal).
Describing the fight as one “between his party’s booth workers and the syndicate of TMC,” Shah promised 33 per cent reservation to women in West Bengal if the people vote BJP to power.
He claimed the BJP’s aim is not to remove the Mamata Banerjee government but to ensure that there is a “change in the situation in West Bengal; a change in the situation of the poor of the state; a change in situation of women of the state”.
