New Delhi: Unfazed by the backlash following her comment that the Independence India won in 1947 was “bheek,” actor Kangana Ranaut said that she is ready to return her Padma Shri if someone can enlighten her about what took place in 1947. The actor took to Instagram Stories to share some excerpts from a book “just to set the records straight”.

She wrote, “Everything is very clearly mentioned in the same interview 1857 first collective fight for freedom… along with sacrifice of greats like Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmibai and Veer Savarkar ji. 1857 I know but which war took place in 1947 I am not aware, if someone can bring to my awareness I will give back my Padma Shri and apologise also… please help me with this.”
Leaders from BJP and other parties have demanded action against the actor even as a complaint was filed against her while some people took to the streets to burn her effigies.
