Mumbai: Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s romantic drama ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ is winning over movie buffs after its re-release in theatres on February 7.
Fans are now looking forward to a sequel and wish to see superstar Salman Khan playing the lead role.
When the ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ makers Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru learnt about this, they too expressed their keenness on having Salman on board.
During a recent conversation with Filmygyan, when a fan requested the director duo to cast Salman in ‘Sanam Teri Kasam 2’, Radhika quipped, “Arey yaar, aapke munh mein ghee shakkar, but vo apni destiny ke maalik hain. (May it happen as you say, but he is the master of his own destiny.)”
Vinay, who was sitting next to Radhika, added, “Please, aap hi unhe bata dijiye. Unhe ye clip tag karke sir ko bheja jaye. Salman sir, please okay boliye. (You only tell him, tag, and send this clip to him. Salman sir, please say yes.)”
Vinay further shared that Salman has been their “mentor” and they would be thrilled if he agrees for the sequel.
Dedicating the song ‘Sun Zara’ from their film ‘Lucky’, Vinay said, “Sanam Teri Kasam 2 with you, sir.”
Seeing the massive success of the film, actor Harshvardhan had expressed his desire to feature in the second instalment of the film as well.
The actor stated that he even is ready to fast for 11 days to convince the makers for a sequel.
Sharing a video clip, in which the audience is seen cheering, hooting, and even crying, he wrote, “I went below the producer’s office to request for re-release, now next step I will do a 11 day (water only) fast below his office to request him for Part –2.”
He added, “9 years ago, the Producer gave it his blood, director gave it his sweat, Mawra gave it her soul, and now you gave it your tears !! I will give my life for part-2, Tumhaari Kasam (I swear on you).”
According to Sacnilk, the film has recorded the biggest weekend for a Bollywood re-release and has minted ₹18.50 crore till date.
Written and directed by Radhika and Vinay, the romantic drama was released in 2016.
Made on a budget of ₹14 crore, the film failed to impress the audience then, minting only ₹9.1 crore at the box office.
However, on its re-release, the film surpassed its original domestic collection in just two days.
