Bhubaneswar: With Biju Janata Dal (BJD) stepping up efforts to finalise candidates for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha, the ruling party’s Puri district unit president Dibakar Patra on Saturday virtually announced the names of nominees for Satyabadi and Bramhagiri Assembly.
Speaking during a programme at the party office, Patra told media that former MLA Sanjay Das Burma is all set to win from Satyabadi Assembly constituency in Puri district.
He said the sitting MLA from Satyabadi, Umakant Samantaray will emerge victorious in Brahmagiri, which was earlier represented by Das Burma.
While the ruling BJD is yet to formally announce its candidates for any constituency for the upcoming elections, Patra asserted that the party will ensure victories for both the leaders by huge margins in Satyabadi and Brahmagiri in Puri district.
Asserting that BJD is all set to post its sixth victory in a row, Patra said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is going to create record by becoming CM for sixth term.
Notably, Das Burma and Samantaray were in the news recently for their alleged squabbling on the Assembly seat choice for the upcoming elections
As per tradition, the party chief or top leadership announces names of nominees for Lok Sabha and Assembly seats. Patra’s announcement, therefore, came as a surprise.
