Winter Chill: Mercury Goes Below 15 Degrees Celsius At 16 Places In Odisha; Check Lowest Temperatures

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is feeling the chill as winter sets in with the month of November not even halfway through.

The mercury dipped across the state on Wednesday evening, with 16 places recording minimum temperature below 15 degrees Celsius, as per the latest bulletin from IMD’s regional centre here.

Daringbadi, in Kandhamal district, remained the coldest with minimum temperature of 8.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Phulbani (10 degrees) and Rourkela (10.5 degrees).

The minimum temperature was 10.6 degrees at Jharsuguda, 12.4 at Keonjhargarh, 12.6 at Angul, 13.2 at Koraput, 13.3 at Balangir, 13.5 each at Bhawanipatna and Dhenkanal, 14.1 at Sonepur, 14.2 at Sambalpur, 14.6 at Jajpur and 15 at Titlagarh on Wednesday evening.

In Bhubaneswar, minimum temperature was 15.5 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack recorded a minimum of 15.2, IMD said.

Dry weather is likely to prevail in several districts of Odisha till November 19, according to IMD.

There will be no large change in minimum or night temperature during the next four days. Thereafter, IMD predicted that minimum temperature could rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius in Odisha.

“Dense fog has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh while moderate fog has occurred at one or two places over the district of Kalahandi during the last 24 hours,” IMD informed.
