Bhubaneswar: The chill has returned to Odisha and Sunday morning saw mercury plummeting below 15 degree Celsius at four places in the state.
Sonepur recorded the lowest temperature of the day at 11.4 degree Celsius, followed by Jharsuguda (13.4), Phulbani (14.3), and Talcher (14.6).
The morning also saw dense fog engulfing Bhawanipatna and Phulbani reducing visibility to below 50 metres.
According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, all stations except Rayagada, Paralakhemundi, Nayagarh and Gopalpur recorded a drop in the night temperature.
While the minimum temperature will remain unchanged for the next 24 hours, it will fall by 3-5 degree Celsius thereafter during the next 2-3 days, the forecast added.
The Met office has also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places in Nother Interior Odisha, Balasore, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Khadhmal, and at one or two places in Korput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Rayagada, Balangir, Cuttack, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Puri.
