Bhubaneswar: The night temperature is likely to drop by 2-4 degree Celsius from December 30 as cold and dry wind is expected to blow into Odisha due to westward movement of a western disturbance, sweeping North India.
The cold spell is likely to intensify from the first week of January, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
According to the midday bulletin, there will be no large charge in the minimum temperature during the next 24 hours. The mercury will, thereafter, fall by 2-4 degree Celsius in the subsequent 4 days across the state.
The night temperature may drop to 13 and 14 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack during this week. The twin cities recorded 16.9 and 16.5 degree Celsius respectively in the last 24 hours with G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal, being the coldest at 10.8 degree Celsius.
Dry weather may prevail thereafter with shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sambalpur on December 31, it added.
