Berhampur: Police have arrested a woman and her two sons for peddling brown sugar in Berhampur of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday evening.
According to police sources, the arrested persons, identified as Puja Pradhan and her sons Akash Pradhan and Bikash Kumar Pradhan have been running brown sugar trade from their rented house at Raghupati Nagar 2nd Line in the city for the last few months.
Following information, Badabazar police conducted a raid on the house and seized 8.48 gram of brown sugar from their possession. They were selling brown sugar to local youths at Rs 500 per one pouch.
The police have also seized Rs 8,900 and three mobile phones from them. All the three accused persons have been forwarded to the court.
The police have registered a case and launched further investigation to identify the source of procurement of seized brown sugar.
