Bhawanipatna: A woman and her three sons were sentenced to imprisonment for life for murdering a man over land dispute at a village in Odisha’s Kalahandi district five years ago.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ) of Dharmagarh convicted the four and awarded life imprisonment for the murder at Atigaon village of the district in 2018.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on all four convicts. In the event of non-payment of the fine, they will have to undergo additional jail term for one year.
The woman, identified as Kuchita Dandasena, and her three sons were facing trial in the murder case of Chayakanta Dandasena, who was an employee at the Revenue Inspector’s (RI) office at Atigaon under Junagarh police limits. He had reportedly objected to an illegal construction by the mother and her three sons.
According to prosecution, Chayakanta was hacked to death by the woman’s three sons – Radhu, Pita and Jadu after getting instruction from their mother Kuchita. The police had registered a murder case after arresting all four persons.
