Woman Accuses Husband of Domestic Violence; Stages Sit-in Protest

Berhampur: A high-decibel drama broke out after a married woman demonstrated in front of her husband’s house demanding justice for her and her sons.

The incident has happened in Railways Quarters of Berhampur district and the woman is identified to be Swapna. Kanhu Nayak husband

She does not have parents-in-law, her husband’s sister and her husband solemnised their marriage

According to Sapna, their marriage took place in 2012 and since 2018, she has been living separately with her mother.  The couple has 2 sons, out of which the elder son is living with her husband and the younger son is staying with her maternal parents.

The woman has alleged that, “I was a constant victim of my husband’s physical and mental torture which escalated at times due to his suspicion of my extra-marital affairs with his friend Dinabandhu Panda 4 years back. Sapna claimed that her family fulfilled all the dowry promises made by her in-laws that includes Rs 4 lakh cash and ornaments, however when she refused to give additional Rs 20 lakhs demanded by her in-laws, she was driven out of home.”

Has filed complaint with GRP

It is known that Sapna was assisted by a local social worker named Pramila Tripathi to take the matter up to higher authorities. Her husband is identified to be a TTE Collector by profession.
