Woman Among 2 Killed In Separate Lightning Strikes In Odisha

Puri: Two persons, including a woman, died after being hit by separate lightning strikes in Puri and Sambalpur districts of Odisha on Thursday.

Sources said a 55-year-old woman was working along with others in a paddy field in Brahmagiri area of Puri district when lightning struck. The woman and another person sustained critical injuries.

They were immediately rushed to a nearby Community Health Center (CHC) where the woman was declared dead by the doctors.

In a similar incident, a man died after lightning struck him while he was grazing cattle at Chaltikra village under the Mahulpali police station of Sambalpur district. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Bhainsa.

The Mahulpali police reportedly registered a case of unnatural death and sent the body to the Kuchinda hospital for postmortem.
