Cuttack: A woman was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old girl and selling her to an auto-rickshaw driver for Rs 10,000 in Odisha’s Cuttack city, reports said on Saturday.
The minor girl, who was missing since Thursday morning, has been rescued from the accused woman by the police and handed her over to her parents.
The accused, identified as Kuni Munda (30) of Chinabadi in Mayurbhanj district, was staying near Gadagadia Ghat in the city, they said.
The girl was also staying with her parents near Gadagadia Ghat. Her father, Rabindra Sahoo, who hails from Jagatsinghpur district, filed an FIR with the police stating that his daughter went missing since Thursday morning.
Following the complaint, police swung into action and apprehended Kuni after investigation. The woman confessed to have kidnapped the minor girl when she was sleeping.
Thereafter, she confessed that she had sold the girl to an auto-rickshaw driver for Rs 10,000. The accused led police to the house of the auto-rickshaw driver and the girl was rescued on Friday, sources said.
