Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested a woman from an apartment at Patrapara here on charges of illegally possessing firearm.
Following a tip-off, a team of Khandagiri police raided a rented house of the apartment and seized a Mauser and an identity card of a media organization from her possession.
According to police sources, the woman was involved in illegal supply of firearms.
During interrogation, the woman told police that she is wife of a journalist.
In a separate incident, dreaded criminal Timan Kumbhar was arrested by Balangir town police on extortion charges. Police seized Rs 2,56,000 in cash and a cell phone from him, additional SP Sashi Bhusan Satpathy informed.
