Bhubaneswar: A woman was arrested by the police in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday for allegedly duping several people of around Rs 25 lakh with false promise of providing government jobs.

ff Selection Commission (SSC) in exchange for money, sources said.
According to police, the accused reportedly collected around Rs 25 lakh from several job aspirants, mostly from the Rayagada district, by promising them government employment.
Police learnt about the fraud after receiving information that interviews for the purported recruitment process were being conducted at a star hotel in the city. Taking advantage of the aspirations of unemployed youth, the accused allegedly demanded around Rs 5 lakh from each candidate, assuring them of government jobs through her alleged network.
Following complaints from the victims, the Maitree Vihar Police launched an investigation and arrested the woman. Police are now probing whether more people were cheated and if others were involved in the racket.
Investigation is in progress and police are trying to ascertain the exact nature of the scam and possible involvement of others.
