Koraput: A 50-year-old woman was arrested by Railway Protection Force (RPF) for carrying ganja worth over Rs one lakh at Koraput railway station on Saturday.
According to RPF sources, on getting reliable information that the woman, identified as Chindo of Haryana, was carrying the contraband on Friday, the RPF personnel conducted checking with train escorting staff in the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Passenger train.
They found Chindo travelling in D3 coach carrying the ganja in a trolley bag. She was detained at Koraput railway station. Ganja weighing 22.7 kg estimated to cost Rs 1,13,500 was seized from her possession.
After going through legal procedure in presence of Executives Magistrate, the woman was arrested and forwarded to court on Saturday.
Chindo revealed to the RPF personnel that she was carrying the contraband to New Delhi. She had planned to change the train at Visakhapatnam.
