Woman Attacked Inside Sambalpur Family Court Succumbs

Sambalpur: The woman, who was attacked by her husband inside the premises of a family court in Sambalpur on Monday, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla.

The deceased identified as Sanjita Choudhury was admitted to the district headquarters hospital had to be shifted to VIMSAR after her condition deteriorated.

Sanjita’s niece Shibani, a minor girl, and mother Lalita were also injured in the attack. They are undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.

The accused identified as Ramesh Kumar has been arrested by police. A sword has been seized from his possession.

Sanjita was allegedly attacked with a sword by her husband on court premises where she came to attend proceedings of a case relating to a family dispute.

According to sources, Ramesh and Sanjita got married three months ago. Unhappy over some issue, Sanjita later went back home where she decided to divorce her husband. However, Ramesh had appealed to Sanjita to take her back. But after she did not return after even after several requests, Ramesh had filed a case pertaining to the matter.
