Woman attacked, three more sheep found dead in Niali

Cuttack: Death of three more sheep at Niali in Cuttack district late on Sunday has added to the panic over an unidentified creature prevailing in the area for the last couple of months.
The matter came to the fore after a resident of Uparaba Sahi went to his cattle shed. He found three of his sheep mauled and two others seriously injured.
A woman of Dhaulia Sahi was reportely attacked by the unidentified animal while she sleeping in her house. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“A six-member team of forest officials has been constituted to trace the unidentified animal. After examining the pug marks, it is suspected to be a Hyna or an Indian wolf-like animal,” Phulnakhara forest ranger Himanshu Sekhar Mohanty informed.
Notably, about 200 sheep have been found dead in the area in the last two months. Postmortem report revealed that some wild animals killed the sheep, said Cuttack (Rural) SP Madhab Sahoo said.
Locals are spending sleepless nights to catch the killer, but without any success. Adding to the confusion, fake photographs and morphed videos of the creature are going viral in social media.
