Balasore: Masked men allegedly attacked a woman with sharp weapons and hurled acid at her Banisia village under Soro police limits in Balasore district late on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Manjulata Jena (36). The incident occurred at around 11:30 pm when she stepped out of the house to attend nature’s call.
The miscreants fled when family members rushed to the spot, hearing her screams. With injuries on her hands, legs, and throat, she was admitted to Soro sub-divisional hospital, where her condition is stated to be stable.
While the family has lodged a complaint, sources said the attack could be the fallout of a land dispute and past enmity.
