Bhubaneswar: A woman allegedly attempted self-immolation in front of Lok Seva Bhawan in the high-security zone of Bhubaneswar on Friday, triggering tension in the area.
Sources said the incident, which took place near Gate No. 1 of Lok Seva Bhawan, created commotion for some time a crowd gathered at the spot. Security personnel deployed near the site rushed to bring the situation under control.

After being rescued, the woman broke down and brought allegations against Banpur police. She alleged that she had been mentally harassed and wrongfully detained by police In Banpur without any valid reason. Speaking to reporters, the woman alleged that the alleged police action had caused her immense mental stress and pushed her into distress.
Following the incident, officials of the secretariat and security staff stepped in to manage the crowd and maintain order.
The woman was taken into police custody after being rescued and later shifted to a hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment.
