Sundargarh: A woman attempted suicide on the court premises in Odisha’s Sundargarh, protesting acquittal of a rape accused after the hearing.
She has been hospitalised in a critical condition. The woman, who is currently on bail in a murder case, had leveled a rape allegation against her paramour.
The woman allegedly killed her husband in 2021. She alleged that her male partner provoked her to commit the crime.
Today, after the District and Sessions Court verdict was not in her favour, the woman consumed pills allegedly to end her life, said sources.
In 2021, the woman had filed a complaint with police alleging rape by her partner Aswini Nayak. Based on this, Nayak was arrested.
According to doctors, the health of the woman improved after treatment. The incident is being investigated by Sundargarh police, sources added.
