Nayagarh: A woman was allegedly dragged out of her house and beaten up for not paying a fine imposed by a Kangaroo court at Udaypur village in Nayagarh district on Sunday.
The ‘Grama Sabha’ had imposed a fine of Rs 1.42 lakh on the woman accusing her of stealing gold ornaments from her brother-in-law’s house, reports said, adding that witchcraft was used to identify the thief.
A case has been registered at Sadar Police station on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim regarding the incident and probe is underway.
