Woman Burnt Alive After Bus Overturns & Catches Fire; Did Driver Fall Asleep?

Hyderabad: A woman was burnt to death and a couple of other passengers suffered injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned and caught fire.

The accident took place in the early hours of Saturday at Telangana’s Jogulamba Gadwal district when the Jagan Amazon private bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Chittoor in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Police said the driver may have lost control of the bus as he had fallen asleep, or was overspeeding.

According to eyewitnesses, almost all the passengers managed to get off the bus. However, one woman couldn’t get down as her hand got stuck, and she consumed by the raging flames. The bus was also reduced to ashes.

The victim is yet to be identified.

A case has been registered against the driver and an investigation is underway.
