Woman Civil Engineer & Mother-In-Law Arrested For Illicit Liquor Trade In Odisha’s Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Police arrested a woman civil engineer and her mother-in-law for producing and selling country-made liquor in the district on Thursday.

According to SDPO Sarthak Ray, reliable information about manufacture of illegal country-made liquor in the house of Aladi Singh, a police team conducted a raid at Ghusuripokhari village under Bhadrak Rural Police limits. During the search, the team seized more than 1000 litre of country-made liquor stocked in barrels at the backyard of the house.

The police also seized items used for manufacture of country liquor, Rs 1 lakh in cash and some vehicles. They arrested Aladi’s daughter-in-law Saraswati Singh who is a civil engineer by profession. However, her two sons, who were also involved in the illegal trade managed to escape.

Police have arrested six other persons for sale of illicitly distilled liquor and seized 170 litre of ID liquor from their possession during the last two days, sources said.
