Sonepur: A woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) has reportedly brought allegation of sexual harassment against a home guard in Odisha’s Sonepur district.
As per information, the ASI had contacted the home guard, identified as Rajkumar Pradhan in August this year to seek help for regularisation of her leave. Pradhan, who is posted at Sonepur police headquarters, is considered very close to senior police officials.
The lady ASI had reportedly approached the homeguard after coming to know that he had good connection with the district Superintendent of Police. However, she later alleged that the homeguard sought sexual favours to help her in the matter.
The woman cop had initially lodged a complaint with the SP, but no action was allegedly taken. Subsequently, she lodged a formal complaint with the northern-range IG in this regard.
The ASI has further alleged that the homeguard and in collusion with some otehr officials are trying to implicate her in false case.
Following her complaint, an additional SP has been asked to conduct an investigation into the allegation made by her. The SP as well as the ASP concerned, however, was not available for comment.
The home guard, against the allegation has been brought, could not be contacted for comment.
