Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended ASI of Saheed Nagar police station Mamata Bastia here while allegedly accepting Rs 15,000 bribe.
According to sources, Bastia had demanded illegal gratification from the complainant to help in a case in which she was the investing officer. The entire bribe money has been recovered from her possession and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are on at two locations linked to the ASI.
A case has also been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is underway, the sources added.
