Cuttack: A man allegedly stabbed his brother’s wife with a sharp weapon over a land dispute at Pahanga village under Niali police limits of Cuttack district on Wednesday night.
A critically-injured Kadambini Barik is undergoing treatment a SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Sources said Ganesh Barik allegedly attacked Kadambini with a sharp weapon after finding her alone at home around 10.30pm on Wednesday. The accused later absconded. Kadambini, who sustained injuries on her neck and face, was rushed to a community health centre (CHC) in Niali and later shifted to SCB.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained but it is suspected that prolonged conflict between accused Ganesh and his younger brother Jogeswar might have led to the incident. The police have begun investigations.
