Puri: A woman devotee reportedly died near the Singhadwar of Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri town after the inauguration of the much-hyped Heritage Corridor Project.
The middle-aged woman, who had apparently come to offer prayer at the temple, was found lying unconscious near the Sinhadwar of the 12th century shrine on Wednesday night.
After spotting her, some devotees reported the matter to the volunteers, who rushed her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH), where doctors declared her dead.
Since no one was accompanying the woman, her identity was yet to be ascertained. The police have taken steps to circulate her photo through different media to establish her identity, sources said.
The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of the death.
