Woman Devotee’s Saree Catches Fire At Ghatagaon Tarini Temple In Odisha

Keonjhar: A woman devotee sustained burn injuries after her saree caught fire from an earthen lamp while offering prayers inside Ghatagaon Tarini Temple in Odisha’s Keonjhar district around noon on Sunday.

She has been identified as Meenakshi Baral of Kurunti village under Motunga tehsil of Dhenkanal district.

Meenakshi along with her family members was on a pilgrimage to the shrine when the incident took place. She was rushed to Ghatagaon Community Health Centre (CHC) in a critical condition and later shifted SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, for further treatment, sources said.

This comes 5 days after ten shops, make-shift structures selling ‘prasad’, other ‘puja’ items and stationary products, near the shrine were reduced to ashes in a massive fire.
