Rayagada: A woman died after allegedly being administered a wrong injection at a medicine store in Chandili area of Odisha’s Rayagada district.
Family members of the 54-year-old woman, identified as Bidia Kumar (54) of Getipada village under Chandili police station limits, have filed a police complaint after her death.
Her family members said Bidia had been suffering from fever and cold for the past few days. As her condition did not improve despite taking medicines, she visited a medicine store on Thursday.
They claimed that an employee of the medicine store, identified as A.K. Bhatra, administered an injection to her. Shortly after getting the injection, she reportedly became critical and her health condition worsened.
The woman was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) at Rayagada for treatment. However, she died on the way to hospital, sources said.
Following the incident, the deceased’s family lodged a complaint at Chandili police station, alleging that a wrong injection was administered.
Acting on the complaint, police detained the medicine store employee who allegedly administered the injection. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the woman’s death and determine whether there was any medical negligence.. Further step will be taken based on the findings of the investigation, police said.
