Bhadrak: A dies after undergoing a tubectomy procedure at a village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district with her family members alleging that the tragedy occurred due to negligence of doctors.
The incident took place at a government-run family planning camp at Barapada near Routrapur in the district on Tuesday. The woman, identified as Jayanti Bej, had undergone surgery at the camp held at Barapada, sources said.
However, Jayanti complained of severe pain with a swollen stomach following the operation. She was taken to a nearby hospital was later shifted to Cuttack as her health condition deteriorated. She passed away while undergoing treatment in Cuttack on Wednesday.
Following the incident, her family members alleged the woman died as the doctors had apparently severed the urinary tract during tubectomy as the procedure was performed in the dark due to a power outage.
Stating that there was power outage during the procedure, the woman’s family members have lodged a complaint at Bhadral Rural police station.
District medical authorities reportedly said that the body of the woman has been sent for postmortem and the exact cause of death can be known after getting the report.
