Malkangiri: A woman died as bad roads allegedly prevented the ambulance from reaching the village in time to drive her to the nearby hospital.
The incident was reported from Kadaguda village under Khairaput block in Malkangiri district on Wednesday.
According to available information, the woman, identified as Jambati Kansari, complained of severe chest pain following which her family members dialed ‘108’ ambulance service.
Though the ambulance reached the village in time, it failed to arrive at the patient’s house owing to poor condition of the road. Finding no alternate option, the kin of the woman carried her in a cot till Lamtaguda village where the ambulance was waiting for them.
Later, she was taken to Khairaput community health centre, where the doctors declared her dead.
However, the villagers alleged that the ambulance driver could have reached the spot to receive the patient despite poor roads but he did not make an effort.
