Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police have arrested a woman drug dealer Ranju Nayak and his associate Kanha in connection with the murder case of Subrat Rao at Unit 8 in Odisha capital, DCP Prateek Singh informed on Wednesday.
According to sources, Subrat Rao alias Chandu was allegedly hacked to death by the duo after a group clash took place when he confronted the duo about the illegal sale of drugs on September 9.
Chandu was a drug addict and had returned after undergoing treatment at a drug rehabilitation centre. Ranju along with his associate reportedly attacked Chandu repeatedly as he was asking them to stop the illegal drug business, said sources.
Chandu’s family members alleged that he has been killed for opposing the drugs trade at Narayani slum in the city
“Chandu was admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre and after being released he joined hands with the cops as an informer,” his elder brother P Sibananda Rao had told the media.
