Bhubaneswar: A young woman died after allegedly falling from the second floor of a hotel in Jagamara area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sonali Mahapatra of Nayagarh district. She was working with a private bank.
Police have recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. A male friend, who was with her in the hotel room, has been detained for questioning.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sonali jumped off the hotel after an argument with the male friend, her fiancé with whom she was scheduled to get married next month.
Police are examining the case from all angles to ascertain the circumstances leading to the alleged fall and whether there was any foul play, sources said.
