Woman Fights Chain Snatchers In Bhubaneswar, One Held

Bhubaneswar: A woman fought valiantly and overpowered a chain snatcher in Rasulgarh area under Mancheswar police station limits of Bhubaneswar on Saturday afternoon.

The chain snatcher was later handed over to the police.

Reports said that Abhijita Mahapatra of Mayala Vihar area in GGP Colony of Rasulgarh was returning home alone when two criminals came on a bike and tried to snatch a gold chain from her neck. As they tried to do so, she caught one of them and fought back, also drawing passersby with her shouts for help. As residents rushed to her aid, one of the criminals fled on the bike. The other one was caught and subjected to severe thrashing before being handed over to Mancheswar police.

As the woman sustained minor injuries in the scuffle, the police first took her to a nearby hospital for first aid and later dropped her home.
