Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman was found dead at Ganguari near Pahala, on the outskirts of Odisha capital, on Thursday some nine-ten hours after a group of miscreants robbed cash and other valuables from her house last night.
According to available information, the body of the woman, Manorama Panda, who used to live alone was spotted lying in a pool of blood by her daughter.
“I live in the same area. I went to my mother’s house because she did not answer my phone call. On reaching her house, I knocked the door but received no response. So I broke open the door with the help of neighbours and found my mother lying in a pool of blood,” said the deceased’s daughter.
Police along with scientific experts and a dog squad reached the spot and started investigation.
Though the exact reason behind the woman’s death is yet to be ascertained, locals and cops suspect that she was murdered by unidentified miscreants while resisting a robbery attempt.
The miscreants decamped with cash and gold ornaments from the house.
