Woman Found Dead In Odisha’s Cuttack; Husband Alleges Rape & Murder

Cuttack: A married woman was found dead near Jagatpur truck terminal in Odisha’s Cuttack on Wednesday amid suspicion that she was raped and murdered.

Sources said local residents and drivers spotted the body lying near the truck terminal in the morning and informed the police. The woman was reportedly missing since Tuesday evening.

A team of police personnel rushed to the spot along with  scientific experts and seized the body, which was sent for postmortem.

While the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, the woman’s husband Mandan Sahu alleged that his wife was raped and strangled to death by miscreants.

Sniffer dogs and a forensic team will be pressed into service to investigate the incident, the sources said.

Police registered a case while further probe is underway to ascertain the circumstances under which the woman died.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was murdered, but the post-mortem report will provide a clear picture, the sources added.
