Cuttack: A woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a locked temporary shed at Trinath slum under Jagatpur Industrial Estate in Odisha’s Cuttack on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Kabita Behera.
According to sources, Kabita and her husband Karunakar Mahalik had been residing in the area for the last few month. It is being suspected that Kabita might have been murdered by Karunakar, who she married recently after the death of her first husband, as he has been missing after the incident.
Locals said Kabita and her husband Karunakar often quarrelled over petty issues. They also fought on Tuesday night. Her body was recovered from a temporary shop which she had set up to eke out a living.
“The couple had some dispute and it is suspected that she might have been killed as there is a strangulation mark and some injuries to her body,” said Zone-1 ACP Arun Swain.
