Koraput: A young woman was found hanging at her house in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday, three days after the death of her school-going younger brother under mysterious circumstances, reports said.
The back-to-back tragedies struck the family in Sriramnagar Colony under the jurisdiction of Jeypore police station of the district.
The woman, identified as Rashmita Nayak, was found hanging from the ceiling. She was working in a private consultancy firm after completion of B.Tech, her father said.
Her family members claimed that Rashmita committed suicide as she could not bear the death of her younger brother Shibasish, who studied in Class 7. Rashmita had come to Jeypore following the death of her younger brother, her father said.
However, police said investigation was in progress and the exact cause of death would be ascertained only after post-mortem.
They further alleged that Shibashish had also committed suicide three days ago as he was constantly bullied by his classmates. It was alleged that the boy was pressured by classmates to give them money.
Breaking down before media persons, the father of the two said, “Due to the festive season, my son called his sister and asked her to bring dress for him. His sister had promised to buy him some dress after reaching Jeypore. But, is is all over now.”
Police have registered a case and investigation into the twin incidents was on.
